Commercial Secondary & Smart Metering Installation
Great you found us! So why do I need a secondary smart meter?
Secondary Smart Metering acts as a tool to provide an authorised sub metering system or as part of an energy management program for a large user. We are now offering smart metering to help you get to grips with your gas, water and electric usage.
If each appliance is metered separately, a wealth of knowledge is now at your fingertips. With half hourly reading we are talking "real time" and wastage can be nipped in the bud. Time clocks that have been overridden, thermostats that have been moved, appliances that have not been serviced or badly serviced, or just old uneconomic equipment, can all be costly for you as a consumer.
Some findings so far;
- Air–con set at 20°c and the heating set at 21°c fighting against each other all day, for how long?
- Time clock on constant, for how long?
- Chef using 4 rings to warm up the kitchen every day.
- Appliance was economic, and then was serviced with un-calibrated equipment.
- Time clock was on for 3 hours a day longer than the business was open.
- Water leak was discovered when a large usage was shown during the school holiday.
- Old water heaters were found to be 10% less efficient than new ones.
As well as the direct financial benefit of Secondary Smart Metering, the key factor of consideration is the EU White paper. Government Legislation information on this can be found within the EU white paper which sets out strategies for reducing our carbon footprint; see our link at the top of this page.
We have already been doing some work indirectly with;
- Marks & Spencer
- halfords
- co-op
- Waitrose
- Somerfield
- Morrisons
- Tesco
- ASDA
- Harringay
- Harlow council
The initial results of these works have seen a 5-10% saving on energy spend, for one of our customers this has meant as much as a £50,000 savings (projected) and in the current economic climate a real bonus.
